Amongst the few popular short trekking in Nepal, the Royal trek of Annapurna region is perhaps the most popular trekking destinations in Nepal. As part of round Annapurna tours and treks in Nepal, the royal trekking involves low altitude journey (mostly 1500 meter) and offers panoramic views of surrounding Annapurna massif and Manaslu Himal with local cultural experiences in a relatively short period of time. If you are considering of a short package tours to spend your trekking holidays in Nepal, the Royal trek itinerary can perfectly fit into your Royal treks Nepal programme.

Outline Itinerary of Royal Treks

Day 01 : Pokhara to Ulleri ( 915m-2073m.):
Leaves Pokhara early in the morning by bus or truck we have to got of New Bridge and head for Birethati. The journey will take about 2 hours over the hill to Chandrakot where you alight to start you walking. Cross the river at Birethati and head left along the gentle slope to Tikhedunga where you cross the Bhurungdi Khola to start the long steep climb to Ulleri. Here you will find a lodge to spend the night.

Day 02 : Ulleri to Ghorepani (2073m-2855m):Continue your climb along the trail. Occasional views of the peaks give way to a narrower valley, you pass through Rhododendron forest and eventually reach Ghorepani. If you wake up early enough to walk half an hour up to Poon Hill to see the sunrise and the spectacular views of Machapuchhre, the Annapurna South, Nilgire and Dhaulagiri.

Day 03: Ghorepani to Tatopani. (2855m-1189m): Enjoy the cool quite of the forest as you descend steeply through Chitre, Shikha and Ghara all of which offers refreshment and a chance to rest your knees. After about 6000 ft. of descend you have your first sight of the Kali Gandaki river which you cross to reach Tatopani

Day 04: Tatopani to Lete (1189m-2438m):You continue up the valley to day which becomes progressively steeper and narrow as the river becomes younger when the river meets the Rupse Khola. There is a waterfall and the Geology changes. The river valley becomes old again the secret being that the river was here long before the Himalayas. Try to reach Lete or Kalopani, but there are lodge to stay at along the way at Ghasa if you have had enough for the day.

Day 05: Lete to Marpha (2667m):From Ghasa the trails is very beautiful with forests and spectacular views of the peaks. At Kalopani you cross the river where it is narrow and back again over suspension bridge. Aim to reach the pretty village of Marpha today.

Day 06 : Marpha to Kagbeni (2800m):From this point north wards a strong wind begins to blow from about 10.00 AM onwards. The trail begins to enter the rain shadow caused by the mountains and the tree became smaller. If you are full of energy, you can continue to Kagbeni.

Day 07 : Kagbeni to Muktinath (3802m):Head up the wide river bed about an hour and you’ll come to a lodge for refreshment before deciding on the high path of Muktinath or low path of Kagbeni. Both are interesting and meet halfway up the hill. As you turn east away from the Kali Gandaki river there are views to Muktinath and the Thorung Pass in the distance. Jarkot is much more real then the trekking village of Muktinath and it is possible to stay here and visit the temple the next morning without your heavy pack. Muktinath Temple is a point of Pilgrimage for Buddhist and Hindus where flame, water and air meet.

Day 08 : Muktinath Return:Enjoy the views from here before returning to Marpha or Jomsom. If you have plan to fly back Pokhara by Airlines, it is possible to set out return.
