Outline Itinerary of Poonhill Trekking
Day 01: On your arrival Tribhuwan international airport in Kathmandu: You will be met by one of our representative and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu after short time you will be briefed about your day to day itinerary. The rest of the day and evening is free for wonder around Kathmandu.
Day 02: Kathmandu- Pokhara: After breakfast, We leave Kathmandu early in the morning for Pokhara, the road climbs out of the Kathmandu valley and quickly starts to descend to the Trisuli River, and the road follows Trisuli River to its junction with the Marshyangdi River. You then follow the Marshyangdi gently up through heavily terraced fields and small hill towns to the Seti River that takes you directly into Pokhara. Depending on your arrival time you will be taken for sightseeing around Pokhara city, phewa-lake, and Baraha temple.
Day 03: Pokhara-Nayapul-Hile (1,490m.): From Pokhara to Nayapul, it takes about 1 ½ hour by driving. The road is reasonably good. At the place of Nayapul, within short walk, one can cross suspension bridge. After that, follows up bank of Modi River to Birethanti. From there mountain trail leads through bamboo forest and passes a large waterfall-summing hole. The trail stays on the north bank of Bhurundi River to Bajagara. Beyond a pasture used by Pony caravans, the trail reaches Sudami then climbs steadily up through the valley reaching Hile (1495m). Walking time is about 5 -6 hours and you stay here in Hile.
Day 04: Hile - Ghorepani (2,850m.): From the place of Hile, after a short walk the trail crosses a stream on suspension bridge and leads the climb very steeply on a stone staircase Ulleri. It leads continuously steep to the large village of Ulleri at 2,070m. From there one can see first eye catching mountain views of Annapurna south (7,219m), Himchuli (6,440m) and Fishtail (6,996m). After that, the trail leads through deep magnificent oak and Rhododendron forest up to Ghorepani (2850m). Today’s walking time is about 7 hours. On arrival at Ghorepani you spend a night here and following morning you will be going to Poonhill for superb views mountains of sunrise ,
Day 05: Ghorepani-Tadapani (2,590m.): At the place of Ghorepani to Poonhill (3,193m), trail leads climbing very steeply on a stone staircase. Walking time takes about 1½ hour to the top. From the Poonhill, one can see view of Sunrise and breath taking mountains views such as Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna I, and Annapurna south, Himchuli, Annapurna III, Fishtail, Annapurna IV, and Annapurna II and so on. After Poonhill, ascends to Ghorepani from there to Tadapani (2590m). Mountain trail leads several times ascending and descending. It passes several villages through oak and Rhododendron forest. Walking times takes approximately 6 - 7hours,
Day 06: Tadapani-Ghandrung (1,940m.): Today the trail gently descends towards Ghandruk through the rhododendron, oak and other kinds of trees and forests. You also could hear different kind of birds chirping along the way. This trek is one of the popular destinations for the bird watchers. Ghandruk is a big Gurung village. There is a handicraft centre and Grung Museum. From here you can see the views of Annapurna South himchuli Gangapurna Annapurna III and Fishtail. The walking time is approximately 3-4 hours.
Day 07: Ghandrung - Nayapul (1050m.)- Pokhara: At the place of Ghandrung trail leads to Nayapul, the route almost descending and flat through the bank of Modi River and passes several villages such as Kimle, Shyauli Bazzar, Birethanti and Nayapul. Walking times takes about 5 hours, after Nayapul drive back to Pokhara. It is time to enjoy excitement of Pokhara so the rest of the time is free for leisure here at Pokhara.
Day 08: Pokhara-Kathmandu: After breakfast do some sightseeing around Pokhara city and afternoon drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
Day 09: It is time for farewell: Transfer to Tribhuwan internal airport Kathmandu for your return or onward Journey.
