Ghorepani-Ghandruk Trek

Ghorepani or Poonhill trekking is one of the most popular trekking in Annapurna region. This trek fits for all age groups and adventure seekers and also all sort of fitness level. This trek leads to the west of Pokhara providing your chance of superb Mountain views and traditional cultural experience. The trek in the area, offers spectacular scenery along with charming villages, inhabited by particularly Gurung and Mangar communities, full of Rhododendrons forest, which is inhabitants of all kind of birds and other animals and it also has subtropical valleys, all set bellow Annapurna with the scenic view of Machhapuchere (fishtail), Dhaulagiri Mountains. This area is also very famous for panoramic Mountain views.

Pokhara is the gateway of most of the Annapurna treks so Ghorepani trek also begins from Pokhara where we can reach either by flights or by drive. This trek is one of luxuries trekking in Annapurna area and it is popular for rhododendron blooms from March to May. It is one of the best places for family holidays. This trek is suitable for those who have sort holidays for Himalayas trekking as well as cultural experience in Nepal. The most important thing is to climb poonhill and see the possibly the most fantastic landscape on the Earth. When sun rises and it touches submits of Mt Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and maze of Himalayas peaks and gradually the sights appears there and colours changes just like magic.

Outline Itinerary of Ghorepani-Ghandruk Trek

Day 01: on you arrival at Kathmandu airport (1345m):
  you will be met by one of our representative and will be transferred to hotel, after checked in you will be briefed about your trekking plan and rest of day is free for leisure.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing: you will be guided to visit around Kathmandu valleys to see  Durbar square Monkey temple pasputinath temple Patan and Baudhanath stupa by one of our Guide.

Day 03: Kathmandu - Pokhara (914m): We leave Kathmandu early in the morning for Pokhara, the road climbs out of the Kathmandu valley and quickly starts to descend to the Trisuli River, and the road follows Trisuli River to its junction with the Marshyangdi River. You then follow the Marshyangdi gently up through heavily terraced fields and small hill towns to the Seti River that takes you directly into Pokhara.

Day 04: Pokhara - Nayapul (1050m) - Tikhedhunga (1577m):  Today we drive from Pokhara to Nayapul which takes about hour and now here your Trekking starts. From Nayapul we start our trek and to walk pass, Birethanit and numerous small villages along the way. After some time we start to ascend gently to the final destination of the day, to Tikhedhunga where we spend over night in lodge. In the area the majorities of people are Gurung and their religion is Budhist and most of them are engaged in agricultural activities, tourism business and Gorkha and Indian regiments.

Day 05: Tikhedhunga- Ghorepani (2800m):  Today the trail is steeply ascends first approximately 2 hours passing through steeps of the ulleri and ascends gently passing through Mangar Villages and you will be pausing for the photos of fishtail, Himchuli, and Annapurna south and also terrace, villages behind you where you walk passed and rhododendron forest. Now the trail gets quite easier and gently passing through the forest and gentle ascend up to our final Camp of the day. Along the way you could see various animals like monkeys and birds. The trekking is approximately 6-7 hours.

Day 06: Ghorepani - (Tadapani 2675m):  Today we rise early in morning to make the trip to Poonhil and enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Dhaulagiri-8167m, Tukuche peak-6920m, Nilgiri-7855m, Varaha shikhar-7847m, Mt Annapurna I- 8091m Annapurna south-7219m, Annapurna III -7855m, Machhapuchere- 6993m,  and other numerous snow-capped  mountain peaks. We climb down to Ghorepani and after breakfast trek to Tadapani through the deep forests of rhododendrons, bamboos and oaks forests. En route, you frequently see waterfalls, rocks wild animals’ loads of local birds and green scenarios. Tadapani is a small village on the hill surrounded by beautiful forests which Presents you a magnificent view of Annapurna south, Himchuli, fishtail and Annapurna II and much more.

Day 07: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1950m): Today the trail gently descends towards Ghandruk through the rhododendron, oak and other kinds of trees and forests. You also could hear different kind of birds chirping along the way. This trek is one of the popular destinations for the bird watchers. Ghandruk is a big Gurung village. There is a handicraft centre and Grung Museum. From here you can see the views of Annapurna South himchuli Gangapurna Annapurna III and Fishtail. The walking time is approximately 3-4 hours.

Day 08: Ghandruk – Nayapul –Pokhara: Normally it takes average 5 hours and the trail takes you out of the Ghandruk village and gently descending half of the way through the rice field and local villages until Syaulibazar and then we walk flat part till Nayapul where we will be driven to Pokhara. On arrival Pokhara the rest of the day is free for leisure in Pokhara.

Day 09: Fly or drive back to Kathmandu: If we drive depending on traffic it will take about seven hours to get to Kathmandu. While you are being driven to Kathmandu you will head towards Damauli, Dumre Muglin, and Kurintar.  In Kurintar you can see the Nepal s first cable car is operated to reach to Manakamana Temple. In this route you could also enjoy the mountain views, green scenery, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and people being engaged in their daily life activities, finally, on your arrival in Kathmandu you will be transferred to hotel. The rest of the time will be for leisure and do the shopping. 

Day 10: Kathmandu: After wonderful and unforgettable trek you have whole free day for wonder around Kathmandu Valley and do some shopping and stay at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 11: finally day of this trip: Depending on your flight time you will be transfer to Tribhuwan international airport for your return flight back home or onward journey.
