Everest Gokyo valley and Renjo pass

At the conclusion of our stay in Kathmandu we will board a twin-otter for the short flight to Lukla (2,850mts) then commence the walk in to our mission. Our mode of travel will be based on the “tea house” style of trekking where the trekking group is free to wander at its leisure between the numerous Sherpa villages which dot the route as well as being a more traditionally serviced trip. The trek will pause at these village centers for meals and overnight rests while transiting to and from various mountain Base camps and peaks. From Namche Bazaar via Thame & Renjo pass (5435m) reached at beautiful lake of Gokyo. In Gokyo there is five lakes all are very beautiful. This trek is understandably one of the most popular and spectacular destinations for walkers and it offer some of the most fascinating and enjoyable trekking. Other attractions include the spectacular scenery of the Himalayan ranges and the Sherpa culture.

Everest is known as roof of the world. The Everest region is understandably one of the most popular and spectacular destinations for trekkers and mountaineers as it offers challenging and enjoyable adventures and some of the most picturesque scenery of highest mountains in the world. This trek begins with a dramatic scenic flight to Lukla. The trek starts downhill to the Dudh Koshi River following many local villages on route with beautiful views of the high snow capped peaks and through the region called the land of Sherpa. This trek includes all the highlights of the Sagarmatha National Park including Namche Bazaar known as main gate of Khumbu region also called Khumbu's Sherpa capital. You can also visit Gokyo valley with its five glacier lakes and climb Gokyo peak(5400m) to see spectacular mountain views including 4 mountains over 8000m in height. You can also explore the Buddhist religion and culture, hidden Yeti legends, meet friendly sherpa people and see rare Himalayan wildlife.

Outline Itinerary of Everest Gokyo valley and Renjo pass


Day 01:  Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Namaste & welcome to Nepal. While you are landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport the representative of the Cross Country Treks and Travel Expedition will welcome you with your name and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed, bring you at head office and briefing about the program and evening we will pick up you for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant with cultural program in the heart of Kathmandu and overnight at Hotel.  

Day 02:  A Guided sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley
After your breakfast to head on for our guided day trip to world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva temples on the subcontinent which is place of thousand of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba), and can be seen the cremating body most of the times in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring surrounding area and visit Bouddhanath stupa an another pilgrimage centre which is most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise. After visiting Bouddhanath stupa we will drive to the City of Devotees (Bhaktapur). This traditional and traffic free town is the third biggest town in the Valley. We will explore the medieval like squares, courtyards and temples of this vibrant town. After a stop for lunch at restaurant in Bhaktapur it is time to drive back to Kathmandu and meet up with your travel consultant & fellows to prepare for next day and overnight at the hotel. Alternatively, the same group may have option to choose same 3 sightseeing place inside Kathmandu valley instead of these given place.  

Day 03:  Fly to Lukla & trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft)
Early morning you will be transferred to domestic airport to fly to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft). It takes 35 minutes scenic flight to Lukla airport (2,800m/9,184ft) and you will have tea break, while the guide sort out and divide the load baggage to be carried by porters. Guide will manage the lunch place depending upon the time of arrival at Lukla. The trek starts with most scenic view of Numbur Himal & Phari. We further on to Phakding passing some Sherpa farm villages. We follow the trail to Dudhkoshi River with gradual with few ups from Thado Koshi, where you can have a lunch with superb view of Kusum-Kangaru (6,369m/20,890ft) crossing a short suspension bridge, from here after a short climb brings us to the Ghat village, another 1.5 hr of gradual walk brings you to Phakding village for the overnight stop at lodge after 3-4 hrs walk and reminder stroll around the village for local knowledge.

Day 04:  Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft)
The trek start in the morning and after crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh-Kosi the walk is pleasant with few short uphill and downhill and re-crossing the same river again with magnificent view of Mt. Thamserku (6,608m/21,675ft) from the Benkar village. Trek continuing crossing the bridges and reaches at Monjo where is entrance gate of the Sagarmatha National Park, where your trekking permit checked and keeps the record of all trekkers going to and from this place including the local trekking staff as well. When enter the National park boundary we descend and a gradual walk brings us to the suspension bridge over the Bhote-Koshi river, after the bridge Jorsalle village is reached, the last village till Namche Bazaar, from here the walk is pleasant on the river bed till the last bridge over the Imjatse river is reached, from here the walk is along the winding uphill path all the way to Namche Bazaar, with magnificent view of Kwangde peak and it other sister peaks towards east with Kusum kangaru on the back as you climb higher, view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse and the closer view of Tawache peak can be seen from some part on the way to Namche. Finally we reach at colorful houses called Namche Bazzar main gate of Khumbu region after 5-6 hrs walk and we overnight stay at Lodge.

Day 05:  Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft)

Day 06:  Trek to Thame village (3,800 m/12,464ft)
Today, we will head toward the western part of Khumbu called Thame village and walk through just below to Syangboche airstrip and walk to Thamo village for the lunch and further on walk up to Thame Village as well during the trek can be seen most scenic view of Surrounding mountain and Himalayan wildlife. Thame valley is most popular for mountain climbers and monastery itself. After check in we can visit the monastery and surrounding valley and overnight at teahouse. It takes 4-5 hrs to reach at Thame valley.

Day 07:  Trek to Lungden (4,300m/14,104ft)
After Thame village today we head towards the northern part following the Dudh Koshi River up to Lungden valley for the overnight. It has a small settlement and specially Yak farming places and here we have a few basic teahouses where we can have a basic sharing room and basic Nepalese typical food. 

Day 08:  : Explore day in Lungden
This day after a breakfast we were explore the lungden village and hike to some small hill for Acclimatiz or have a full day rest.

Day 09:  Lungden to Renjo pass(5,338m/17,509ft) to Gokyo (4,800m/15,744ft)
Today start our trek early after breakfast and prepare with well equipment as down jacket, gloves, boot, hat, sunglass, gaiter and crampons with stick. Start our trek with crews and ascending to Renjo La passes on rocky and snow covered trail with long glacier walk. It is steep uphill up to Renjo la, where from we can see the best view of Himalayan scenery including Mt. Everest and Gokyo valley. Descend few hrs to Gokyo Lake and enjoy the successful time at Gokyo.

Day 10:  Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,330m/17,483ft), and rest day
This morning hike up to Gokyo Ri for the breathtaking view of splash a sunrise top of the mountain including Mt. Everest view and much more Himalayan scenery. This will be unforgettable life time memories and enjoy around the top. We have a great memories and stroll back an hour’s to Gokyo for breakfast. Reminder is full day rest at Gokyo valley and explore around.

Day 11:  Gokyo to Dole (4200m):
After breakfast we have an easier trek down through the trail retracing our path to Dole. This day offers you fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. We stay overnight in the hotel in Dole.  

Day 12:  Dole to Tyangboche (3900m)
The walk today will be easy heading downhill to a lower elevation to Phortse tanga it 1 hour and from where the path split to Phortse village with a uphill 1 hrs walk to get a beautiful village to Phortse which is quite out of touristic areas. We will have a lunch here. From here towering majestic beautiful peak Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse and Lhotse Shar towards north east and more peaks all around you. Machharmo & Kyajo Ri peak can be seen beautifully from this village and the best Himalayan wildlife can be seen. After a lunch Around 1 hour to head down and cross the river after that another 1 hour headingup to tyangboche. This is one of the most beautiful place in the Himalaya the first thing that comes to your eye is the big Monastery or Gumba, then the large field with campsites and teahouses, lodges beneath the towering majestic beautiful peak Ama Dablam, Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Lhotse Shar towards north east and more peaks all around you.

Day 13:  Tyangboche to Namche (3,440m/11,283ft)
Trek down to Phungithanka a small settlement with couple of teahouses. The trail leads down hill through the forested path of silver fir, blue pines, rhododendron and some few magnolia and birch trees and with a great memories and after crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi river trek onwards to the Sanasa and retrack to Namche bazar for the overnight stay.

Day 14:  Namche to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft)
After a long walk today we’ll have long and last day trek back to Lukla, Firstly we descend the long way before cross the bridge and further walk to Monju and ten Phakding for lunch. We trek back with enjoying the lush green scenery around and passing through the incredible mountain scenery and local Sherpa village. Arrival in Lukla and you’ll have time to stroll around the areas and guide will re-confirm your flight ticket and enjoy the last celebrate dinner with your crew member and overnight at Hotel.

Day 15:  Fly back to Kathmandu
The flight time to Kathmandu, are schedule for morning normally, because of the wind in the afternoon, sometime the flight time can be delayed due to bad weather and other reason beyond our command. Anyway we will fly back to Kathmandu and your guide will transfer to hotel. You may have time to relax after long journey and take back your breath and rest at your hotel.
 
Day 16:  Leisure at Kathmandu
This pleasant day you may have full day at leisure at your own or can be extends your extra trip with us on additional cost or time to explore the Thamel for last day shopping and evening company will meet you for the farewell dinner and overnight at hotel.
 
Day 17:  Departure from Kathmandu
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.
